Co-Curricular Dance

Co-Curricular dance is by audition at the start of each year and aims to extend the talents of students who study dance outside of school. Through the exploration of a range of genres, students learn dance routines that will be performed at events throughout the school year.

Genres of Dance

  • Jazz
  • Contemporary
  • Hip Hop
  • Ballet
  • Lyrical

Whilst the majority of dances are learnt as a group, students may be selected to perform solos/ duos/ trios.

Rehearsal Times

Rehearsals are predominantly during lunch hours.

Cost

The cost to enter eisteddfods is kept to a minimum. The entry fee and cost of transport per eisteddfod will determine the overall cost.

Costumes are generally created from what students already own, however, if a costume is purchased we endeavour to keep the cost to students as low as possible and all students will be notified of any payments in advance.

Dance Awards

Each year, Senior Dance students can nominate for the role of ‘Dance Captain’. The captain will be chosen on their commitment to dance as well as their ability to be a leader both in and outside of rehearsals. It is expected in this role that the student attend all rehearsals and take on a mentoring role to the younger dancers of the troupe. In some cases, they will be offered choreography opportunities.
