Recently, TAFE Skills Tech invited nominations for apprentice/trainee of the year, and out of 9000 apprentices currently studying at TAFE Skills Tech, 64 were nominated across 12 categories. School based engineering trainee, Jai McConnell was among those nominated and he was named the winner of the TAFE Skills Tech School-based Trainee of the Year.
Jai is completing a Certificate III Engineering (Technical) traineeship with Helitak – an engineering company based in Noosaville. Helitak is a Rotary Aerial Fire Fighting specialist design and manufacturing company, that manufactures water tanks for firefighting helicopters. Sales Manager, Paul Blundell, commented that Jai has become a valuable member of their team and is proficient in a number of areas in the business. Commendations were also provided by Jai’s Engineering teacher, Ian Blyth and House Group Leader, Sam Mulligan, who described Jai as a kind and courteous leader who regularly assists his class mates and acts as a mentor to younger students within the College.
Jai was joined by his mum, dad and sister at the awards evening, held at Cloudland, Brisbane. Congratulations to Jai and his family on a wonderful achievement and very fitting end to his time at St Teresa’s College.
