On August 2nd a group of seven St Teresa's students Andrew Kelly, Aaron Macmillan, Eli Cookman, Sebastian Poxleitner, Hamish Eleison, Braiden Harsley, Majayha Hamblin (MJ) and two teachers, Mr Eleison and Mr Webb, departed the College to attend the 3rd annual Mountain Bike Australia Schools National Championship held at Nerang, Gold Coast.
With 96 schools attending and over 400 riders, the weekend was a busy three days of racing mountain bikes against like-minded students, along with the support of staff and families from as far away as Tasmania and Darwin. Throughout the weekend there were several podiums, many Top 20 results and STCC spirit displayed. The three days of racing consisted of, Friday XCC (Cross Country Eliminator), Saturday GE (Gravity Enduro) and Sunday XCO (Cross Country). We were fortunate enough to ride the technical and challenging 2018 Commonwealth Games course for the XCO event.
The weekend was a great success with St Teresa's team placing 14th school overall. A fantastic achievement for a small team and the first year the College has participated in the championships.
On behalf of the STCC MTB Team, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to making this event possible, especially Mr Eleison and Mr Webb for organising our College to be involved.
