International Women's Day

Last Thursday was International Women’s Day and the female leaders got some amazing opportunities to take part in the celebrations during the week. Starting on Tuesday, a group of the female senior leaders gathered at a female empowering gathering called “Don’t just Shimmer, Shine!”. Here, we listened to a group of women share their inspiring and empowering personal stories and struggles through their heartfelt words, images and even through song. They all revealed such deep parts of their lives with us and inspired all the women in the room to be their own person and to believe that we can do whatever we set our minds to.

On Thursday morning I had the privilege of attending the International Women’s Day Breakfast with Emma Raudonikis, Lily Quinn and Mrs Sutton. Here we were lucky enough to hear some passionate and inspiring words from students and guest speakers. Back at the College there were performances by music students and face painting and ribbons available in the Cafe area for a gold coin donation in the breaks. The colour for the day was purple and many students wore ribbon in their hair or on their wrist all day and supported the day. A big thanks to Mr Pojtek, Emma, Lily, and Pomana House Leaders, Gian and Ellie for all their help in running the day, to all the other volunteers who contributed and to everyone who donated to the day. We are all really excited to continue supporting the amazing work of women and men in our community and #pressforprogress!
