Darkness to Daylight Challenge

May is Domestic and Family Violence Awareness month and our BCE community are pleased to once again be participating in the Darkness to Daylight Challenge.
The event will be held on 23 and 24 May 2018 and will conclude Domestic and Family Violence Month which commenced with the annual Candle Lighting Vigil on 2 May 2018. The Run symbolises those lives lost through domestic and family violence but also the ones left behind.  Individuals can take on the whole 110km challenge, representing the isolation victims feel when dealing with domestic violence.
We are taking a team of five Year 10 students and three staff to relay the 110km distance overnight, representing the families, friends and colleagues that are also affected.  In the morning, many others will join in for the last 10km run or the 3km walk to represent the support, community and services available to help those faced with danger and despair.
Donations raised through the Darkness to Daylight event, go towards continuing the prevention of domestic violence through workplace and community partnerships and awareness raising activities.
